Kuala Lumpur, January 23, 2025 - Shopee officially launched the Shopee International Platform (SIP) in Singapore, with the support of Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG). The platform is a feature that allows sellers to sell on overseas Shopee platforms and promote their products on an international level. It aims to support Singapore sellers in scaling their businesses and expanding their presence in regional markets such as Malaysia and Thailand, allowing them to reach more customers at no extra cost. During its pilot phase, over 8,000 Shopee Singapore sellers were onboarded to SIP. The program saw an 8x uplift in orders and Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) over the last three months, underscoring its potential to drive sales growth and unlock new business opportunities for local sellers.
Chua Kel Jin, Director, Shopee Singapore said, “We are thrilled to launch SIP in Singapore, a program that our sellers have been eagerly anticipating. With the support of EnterpriseSG, we’ve helped our local sellers reach a broader consumer base, and enabled them to showcase Singaporean sellers’ products to our neighboring markets. We've also streamlined the process to ensure seamless participation allowing sellers to focus on their core business operations while Shopee takes care of the rest.”
Cindy Khoo, Managing Director, Enterprise Singapore said, “In today’s challenging economic landscape, it is crucial for our companies to diversify revenue streams overseas. We are glad to have worked with Shopee to bring SIP to Singapore to help sellers access growth opportunities via cross-border e-commerce in a cost-effective manner. The SIP is starting with Malaysia and Thailand, which are two of the fastest-growing consumer markets and digital economies in the Southeast Asia region, and we hope it continues to grow. Enterprise Singapore will continue to partner with various industry stakeholders, including Shopee, to expand industry partnerships and support for our companies in their internationalization and e-commerce efforts.”
Expanding SIP: New Market Access and Enhanced Seller Support
Following the successful pilot program in Singapore, SIP will expand to include the Philippines, offering Singapore sellers new opportunities to grow their businesses and connect with more customers in this key regional market while continuing to enjoy free cross-border logistics, dedicated customer service, and secure payment solutions under SIP.
Additionally, successful SIP sellers in Singapore will have the opportunity to leverage a new product feature designed to accelerate their regional expansion by providing greater flexibility and control in managing their business strategies in Malaysia. While SIP currently enables sellers to seamlessly extend their Singapore storefronts to other markets, this new feature will give high-performing sellers greater control over their cross-border strategy in Malaysia. It allows them to curate their product selection to match Malaysian consumer demand, set their own pricing to remain competitive, and manage promotions to maximize sales potential.
At the same time, sellers will continue to benefit from Shopee’s logistics and payment infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations while refining their international growth strategies. This initiative equips experienced sellers with the tools to scale faster and optimize their business performance in Malaysia.
Chua Kel Jin, Director of Shopee Singapore, added, “This collaboration with EnterpriseSG reflects our shared commitment to helping local businesses succeed in new markets. By leveraging Shopee’s regional expertise and EnterpriseSG’s steadfast support for Singapore enterprises, we look forward to enabling more sellers to grow internationally and showcase their products to a wider audience.”
