Singapore, 11 December, 2025 - In August 2025, we announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OpenAI to advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across Southeast Asia. By combining Sea’s robust ecosystem and regional expertise with OpenAI’s popular consumer AI offerings, the MOU helped underscore the exciting collaboration opportunities between the two companies across distribution, payments, and commerce to accelerate the adoption of AI in the region. 

One of the earliest collaborations introduced under the MOU was for Shopee VIPs in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam to receive three months of free access to ChatGPT Plus as part of Shopee’s 8.8 Sales Campaign. Building on the success of the recent promotion and the launch of ChatGPT Go across several Southeast Asia markets, we are pleased to share an expanded offer for our Shopee community. Starting from Shopee’s 12.12 Birthday Sale, Shopee VIPs in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam will be able to redeem three months of complimentary access to ChatGPT Go when they sign up as new ChatGPT subscribers. This benefit gives Shopee VIP subscribers enhanced access to ChatGPT’s most popular features, including higher limits for messages, image generations, file uploads, and longer memory – all powered by OpenAI’s most advanced model GPT-5.1.

From January 2026, we will further extend these benefits to all Shopee users across these markets, who will be able to redeem one month of free access to ChatGPT Go. This will make helpful AI tools more accessible for the wider Shopee community.
